The Team at 55th St.
After practicing the art of Opticianry and Optometry in France, Noemie followed her dream moving to New York. Leonard Opticians welcomed her onboard in 2009 and since then she has developed a strong sense of fashion paired with extensive knowledge of optics and fitting eyeglasses. As manager of Leonards 55th, Noemie continues to lead her team with efficiency and compassion in the ever-changing world of luxury eyewear.
Len learned the optical trade at his father’s Manhattan guild optician shop Keenan & Buck. After proudly serving our country in the U.S. Army, Len completed his studies in ophthalmic dispensing and earned his NY State license in 1973. Len is a master optician, has taught ophthalmic dispensing and supervised apprenticed opticians.
When not plying the many tricks-of-the-trade he has learned over his long career, Len enjoys summer and winter outdoor activities and preparing gourmet meals with his wife (who is also an optician.)
Monica’s years of experience, in-depth product knowledge and interest in her clients’ lifestyles ensures the ideal lens choice for each and every person. However, her true talent and passion is her ability to select the perfect frame for every face. When not making Leonard’s clients look and feel beautiful in their eyewear, you may find her reading, binge-watching British murder mysteries or taking her dog to the park.
After earning his Associate’s Degree in Ophthalmic Dispensing and successfully obtaining his NY State license, Yan began his career working as an optical lab technician. Well-versed as to the fabrication of lenses and coatings, Yan is a stickler to detail when it comes to eyeglasses. Always up for a challenge, Yan will fix the unfixable. When not accomplishing the impossible, Yan enjoys video game playing, exploring the culinary offerings of the city and photography.
As the niece of Arthur Leonard, Kathleen has been at the heart of the Leonard’s team for over 30 years. Her superior management and organizational skills are second to none. After being promoted to a corporate position earlier in the year, she oversees both stores with wisdom and grace. When not making sure that everything is running smoothly, she enjoys cooking, traveling, live music, and spending time with her two sons.
Horace Johnson is responsible for the good looks of the Leonard stores. As the Master of Domestic Duties, Horace keeps us organized and sparkling clean.
In his free time, Horace enjoys Gospel music and is an active participant in the local community church.
